Banteay Srei Administration Plant 2020 Trees
Banteay Srei Administration has collaborated with the team “Together for Social Work” and the Union of Youth Federations of Cambodia in Siem Reap to plant 2020 trees in Poeung Chhat Village, Khun Ream Commune, Banteay Srei District, Siem Reap Province. 2020 trees were planted on September 5 in an effort to help protect the environment and create more areas with spectacular greenery views.
Mr. Khim Finan, mayor of Banteay Srei district emphasized that the goal is to have “one person plants one tree per year.” They will try to plant as many trees as they can. However, since the district population is 50,000, so they would like to plant at least 50,000 trees per year. “Our objective in planting trees is to create a green canopy. Before planting trees, we also have to study geography and the best types of trees that suit the area. We plant trees that can provide. If we are closer to the city, we plant trees with flowers to generate that beautiful view. If we are in the mountains or forests, we plant trees in the rosewood category to help restore the trees that have been cut down.”
The district mayor has joined events intended to plant trees for the 8th time in the last 6 months. So far, these events have brought in more than 25,000 trees in the district to ensure the sustainability and greenery view of the district in order to attract more tourists.
