MOEYS Allows More Than 600 Schools in Siem Reap to Reopen Next Week​

More than 600 public schools in Siem Reap province will be allowed to reopen from September 07 in accordance with the Ministry of Education, Youth and Sports’ Second Phase of School Reopening, according to the Siem Reap Provincial Department of Education, Youth and Sports on 31 August 2020.

Ly Bunna, the director of the provincial department of education, said among the 600 public schools in Siem Reap province, there 19 kindergartens, 507 primary schools, and 123 secondary schools.

He also called on all schools to follow the Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) of the Ministry of Health amid the pandemic.

Some schools are in cooperation with relevant institutions to clean classrooms before the schools start.

Meanwhile, grade 9 and grade 12 students will finish the curriculum without the upcoming school holidays in order to prepare for the national examinations on 30 November 2020 and 21 December 20, respectively.

The government has closed all schools in the country since 14 March 2020 due to the outbreak of Covid-19. After the ease of the situation, the ministry of education allows all schools to be reopened in 3 phases, 1) for high-standard schools, 2) medium-standard schools, and 3) average-standard ones.
