Influenza A Outbreak Found in Preah Vihear Province

The Ministry of Health of Cambodia confirmed the outbreak of Influenza A on many prisoners in the Preah Vihear provincial prison early this morning.

According to a statement issued on the ministry's Facebook page, after the investigation and inspection of emergency authorities and doctors in the provincial referral hospital, 147 patients who were quarantined and receiving treatment were tested for Covid-19, 11 were separated in another room, and the other 326 were being quarantined.

On September 01, the specimens analyzed by the National Institute of Public Health showed negative results of Covid-19, but they were tested positive for Influenza A, which is a contagious viral infection that attacks your respiratory system.

The authorities also educated all the prisoners on the hygiene and alerted them to be highly cautious of this infectious disease.

Recently, the health conditions of the patients are getting better, and they are under the examination of doctors in the province.

The ministry also called on people to follow Covid-19 and Influenza A preventative measures in a bid to prevent the spread of these diseases to individuals, families, and groups.
