Battambang Province Collects Over $6 Million in Revenue from Tourism during 5-Day Khmer New Year Holiday
On the occasion of 5-Day Khmer New Year Holiday, Battambang Province pulled in approximately $6 million of gross revenue from more than 130,000 domestic and international visitors.
Uch Um Phinisara, Director of Battambang Provincial Department of Tourism, asserted that during Khmer New Year holiday, Battambang Province attracted 133,349 visitors, 132,524 of whom are local tourists and 825 are foreigners.
Meanwhile, the province accumulated the total revenue of USD 6,692,200. He added that the primary tourist destinations, including Banan Temple, Phnom Sampov, Ek Phnom Temple, Basset Temple, Kamping Puoy Basin, Chamkar Svay Waterfall, Stung Thmor Da, Chamkar Thuren Waterfall, 53 Phnom Proek Waterfall, Nokor Chum Phnom Proek, Phnom Kampoul, Chamkar Duren O Tong, Stung Thvak, Ochham Waterfall, Seven Caves, Flower House, and Lori Entertainment Center.
Furthermore, this leading rice-producing province absorbed a lot of sectoral benefits from accommodations and restaurants as well as many other tourist sites in the province. Due to the economic recession caused by COVID-19 over the past several months, there is a significant sharp increase in the flow of visitors to the province.
Notably, visitors tend to have a high willingness to expense on traveling, accommodations, food, and visiting fees. In fact, consumption of one person means the income of others; therefore, all consumptions of tourists are the income for most local people, especially villagers at Banan and Samlot districts.
The director of the department emphasized that there were no significant issues occurring during the holiday. Indeed, the department closely cooperated with Department of Health and relevant authorities to disseminate and advise resort owners, as well as visitors to adherently, follow the guidelines of Ministry of Health on the containment of the spread of COVID-19 and the maintenance of public order to ensure safety and security for all tourists at every tourist sites in Battambang Province.
