Tourism in Cambodia in the First Half of 2020 Drops Over 60%​

The major tourists visiting Cambodia come from China, Vietnam, Thailand, the US, South Korea, England, and France for the first half of 2020. The least number of tourists come from Timor, Monaco, Macau, Bhutan, Afghanistan, and Fiji.

The data demonstrates that there is a great decrease in the number of incoming travelers into Cambodia. In the first half of 2020, there were 275,673 visitors from China (78.7% drop), 179,698 from Vietnam (55.3% drop), 161,084 from Thailand (7.6% drop), 53,238 from the US (59.7% drop), 52,613 from South Korea (62.2% drop), 44,326 from England (50.2% drop), 41,838 from France (51.7% drop).

On the other hand, the percentage decline can also be seen with countries with the least incoming travelers. In the first half of 2020, there were 20 people from Timor (79.6% drop), 27 from Monaco (35.7% drop), 30 from Macau (79.3% drop), 42 from Bhutan (72.4% drop), 47 from Afghanistan (67.4% drop), and 75 from Fiji (61.7% drop).

According to the data from the Ministry of Tourism, the number of tourists visiting Cambodia in the first half of 2020 decreased over 60% from 3 million to 1.18 million in 2020 compared to the same period from last year due to the pandemic caused by Covid-19.
