The Department of Agriculture, Forestry, and Fisheries of Preah Vihear Province have donated sweet bamboo seeds to three local forest communities, including Krasaing Forestry, Chep Lech Forest and Samaki Trapeang Tontum forestry communities.

The handover ceremony took place on August 10, 2020, in the presence of Mr. Peng Trida, Director of the Department of Agriculture, Forestry, and Fisheries of Preah Vihear province. The event also featured collaborations with the District Administration, Forestry Administration, the ASPIRE Program, the Office of Agriculture, and the Department of Natural Resources and Environment of Chhep District.

Mr. Trida noted that in 2020 alone, ASPIRE distributed each community a community pond, 700 sweet bamboo shoots, one cart, one water pump, and a scale.

Currently, the locals can generate income from harvesting forest by-products such as mushrooms and vines. With the introduction of this new plant, he hopes that the local community members will take good care of the bamboos by following professional guidance.
