New Guidance on Additional Measures for Tourism in the Fifth Round

In the fifth round of the meeting organized by the government on July 31, 2020, new guidance regarding additional measures were made with the objectives of managing the negative effects on the important sectors of the national economy.

These new measures are created with the context of the Coronavirus crisis and the restoration and strengthening Cambodian economy after the Covid-19 crisis.

This guideline is made to be enforced by the Department of Tourism of the Phnom Penh and Siem Reap, Preah Sihanouk, Kep province, Kompot, Svay Rieng, and Banteay Meanchey provinces. The Ministry of Tourism instructs the directors of the departments to publish and enforce the following measures to the owners of hotels, guesthouses, restaurants, and travel agencies:

  1. Continue to exempt all type of taxes for hotels, guesthouses, restaurants, and travel agencies who register with the General Department of Taxation and are in business in Phnom Penh, Siem Reap, Preah Sihanouk, and Kep provinces and Krong Bavet, and Krong Poi Pet for an additional two-month period from August to September 2020.
  2. Inform businesses of hotels, guesthouses, restaurants, and travel agencies which have been suspended or will be suspended to apply for work contract with the Ministry of Labor and Vocational Training or via Department of Labor and Vocational Training for $40 monthly benefit for two months from August until September 2020. The enterprise and business should contribute through volunteering and ability in addition to what the government has offered.
