Agriculture Booms During the Covid-19 Crisis in Cambodia
While Cambodia is tackling the spread of Covid-19, the agriculture industry is on the rise.
During his latest visit to the Freshwater Aquaculture Research and Development Center in Prey Veng province on the 14th of July, Prime Minister Hun Sen expressed his deepest support of our local farmers for their pivotal roles in food provision during the Covid-19 crisis.
Samdech Hun Sen added that by working in the agricultural sectors, we are able to reduce unemployment, ensure sufficient food supply into the market, as well as push our agricultural understanding to the forefront.
In 1988, the Freshwater Aquaculture Research and Development Center was established by the Fisheries Administration in collaboration with PADIC. It was created solely for research on fish breeding as well as to provide aquaculture technical training. For the past 30 years, this center has expanded into more provinces across Cambodia and has worked closely with thousands of local farmers.
