“The first method for estimating the intelligence of a ruler is to look at the men he has around him.” This is according to Niccolò Machiavelli, the author of The Prince, the most influential book in politics. In this sense, he wanted to emphasize that a certain type of leader attracts the same type of followers.
Niccolò Machiavelli thought that it is not difficult to measure intelligence as well as the competence of a leader; we can just pay attention to the level of knowledge and the attitudes of his/her surrounding people or workers. This means that if a leader is really capable, then there will not be many useless people around him/her because they cannot work together, he or she needs to be surrounded by talented people to work collectively.
On the other hand, a weak leader is circled by a lot of worthless people and kiss-ass and this surely results in nothing great. This kind of journey will sooner perish. Leadership is important; if the leader is weak, the workers are stronger so that the company or organization will lose its stability and more likely to go bankrupt.
Therefore, it is not difficult to judge a great leader. Observing the people around them, you will definitely be able to recognize him/her.
